Hello,

I have tested a couple of different configurations and have had good results with the following methods. Please feel free to comment.

Option 1)
TVU MAC Player
-------------------

The Standalone application for Mac users, works, however it is a little buggy as compared with the windows version of the program.
It will work and is prehaps best suited if you desire to watch a specific service. The internal codecs sometimes crash when you change stream channels. which means you have to restart the application, when you sometimes change channels.

Option 2)
TVU Windows Player on MAC (WORK AROUND..)

What I have done here is pretty much avoid use of the Mac Player, and run the windows version inside windows XP on OSX.

There are many methods that can be used to run Windows apps on top of OSx. Some are better than others. In my opinion, you can not have as good a solution as what I will present. It will also run all windows applications not just TVU.. (well... almost all...)

Step 1.
---------
Install Sun Microsystems Virtual Box. you can get it from www.virtualbox.org there is a version for various operating systems. Just get the Mac version, and install it...

Step 2.
---------
Install Windows XP as a virtual machine under VirtualBox... this will create a fully functional windows XP Computer that will run in a window on OSX. (you can use other windows apps as well... if it runs under XP, then it should run under XP running in VirtualBox... The execption is prehaps some more demanding programs such as games or high graphics applications.(It will work fine for TVU and also some emulators ect, and other Apps Like Microsoft office ect...)

Step 3.
---------
Make sure that the Sound for your Virtual Machine is enabled. this will pass the sound through for your XP to your OSX.

Step 4.
---------
In some but not all instances, you may wish to add something called Guest Extentions to your Guest OS (Windows XP Virtual Machine) it helps make the Virtual box a little more seamless and flexable with OSX.

Step 5.
---------
Boot the XP through VirtualBox, it will look the same as turning on a XP system and Booting it up. Just use it as a normal Windows XP PC... Install the Windows Version of TVU Player...

I know That this is prehaps not the best solution, however overall, it will also provide you with more flexability with use of your Mac Also. Because it now runs basically all windows apps as well..

My Method has been proven to work, it also provides a higher level of flexability over other types of methods to run MS windows on OSX, Through use of Product of Sun Microsystems Inc / Innotek Gmbh Virtual Box.

One really nice feature of Using Virtual Box is that ALL the VDI images, regardless of host OS will operate on any other platform version of the program.

This creates another nice feature... you can basically copy the VDI to a large memory stick, and as long as the computer you are using, is running virtual box. this means, either XP,Vista,OSX,LINUX,Solaris. They will all run your VDI image. you can run xp inside vista, vista inside xp, xp or vista inside OSX, Linux inside xp or vista, xp or vista inside linux ect..

The VDI of your Guest OS, is basically your disk image of your virtual computer. you can load your choice of OS into the VDI as well as all the other applications. now every program and file you use, is all contained into a memory stick. sometimes much more nice than having to carry around a laptop (-; just copy the virtual box program to the stick, with your VDI file, and anywhere you have access to a computer. you can install virtualbox, and use your own personal computer inside it.

it is also a secure method of doing your work as no files other than the virtual box application are ever stored on the host machine, unless you place them there. Just dont loose your stick, and also make sure you backup your VDI thats on your stick often.. Everything is stored in that single file. so use caution.

Best Wishes to Everyone,

I would suggest installing MacPorts and WINE
then installing TVUPlayer through the WINE Installer

There is probably a way to access via the Browser as well
maybe by turning off the flags that identify the browser
as being Mac based

Nevermind about changing the user agent, it still
requires a Plugin/Add On, which wont work on the mac,
I hope they make a mac compatible version soon...

Any other ideas...

Good post tho, I have used it successfully from VMWare
the free player from a free VMware image I made and
then installed XP tiny on.

But virtual machines are such memory/resource
hogs

what I have suggested is a simple workaround, so that anyone who has a mac can prehaps make best use of what they have.

a mac easily runs XP under virtualbox

There is more than enough idle resources to make it a simple option.

virtualbox is also a free application, no costs involved.

another point is that not everyone is adept enough to play with wine or other options to simply watch tv.

the application runs flawless under xp.

XP runs fine for this application under virtualbox.

Virtualbox creates a value added option for any mac user and is in my opinion better than other methods of running concurrent OS within the same native OSX Host boot proces.

A user wishing to run wine, would require a more advanced understanding of the requirements of each application.

most users simply wish to watch a show, and do not understand the other aspects of cross platform computing.

If someone wishes to produce a image or suitable wine guide, they are encouraged to do so.

It can give users more options to expierment with.
